So, we’re a month on from our last blog and the house still hasn’t sold. Roger is on his second estate agent contract wondering why there was a lack of interest with Barnard Marcus (only 4 viewings in 12 weeks!) Was it the timing of going to market, the economy, the Beast from the East, Brexit, price, weather, timing in the year, the online presentation, lack of drive from the estate agent or is it just a somewhat unattractive house?! The lack of buyer interest was only worsened by the fact that Roger and his wife had now found their ‘Dream House’ in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
After weighing up the options, the couple made the decision to switch to a different estate agent with a new strategy. Two weeks in and the house has been viewed 3 times already! The sun is out, half term has hit and Roger is feeling much more optimistic. Of course this also means that their ‘Dream House’ is now getting more interest too.
The stress of the moving process is cranking up and the emotional highs and lows need to be controlled and put into perspective. It seems like the market is shifting in London & the surrounding areas are definitely slowing down. Selling in a nervous market comes with some serious challenges. It’s proving a pain preparing the house for viewings, even more so when those potential buyers book appointments only to cancel at the last minute, or worse still don’t even bother to show up! From this, Roger has given himself a rule when viewing properties himself to always be on time to appointments and see them through (even if the house looks nothing like its’ online representation when he gets there).
